Communications Solutions from the Birthplace of Will Rogers

Welcome to Wylie Communications

Wylie Communications has a lot in common with Will Rogers, whose Birthplace sits half a mile from our office. We offer small-town, common-sense communications solutions in multiple media that meet the needs of major national clients-and we have fun doing it.

Principals John and Faith Wylie have a combined seven decades of communications experience in print, direct mail, investigative reporting, in-depth research, internet and both routine and crisis public relations.

While building the Oologah Lake Leader into one of the nation's most honored community weekly newspapers, they have also done major projects for electric utilities, major national publishers, think tanks, political candidates and other clients across the nation.

A recent project for the Manhattan Institute involved in-depth research for almost a year, fluid writing and high quality graphics. Manhattan Institute was delighted with having both the research and graphics coming from the same agency because the quality of both was greatly enhanced by the coordinated team approach.

WCI specializes in fast turnaround for projects. We can do in days or weeks what takes others weeks or months because there is no built-in bureaucracy. We use highly experienced independent contractors when projects demand, but clients will always deal directly with a principal.

John Wylie has handled dozens of major investigative reporting projects for his own newspaper, The Kansas City Star, The Tulsa Tribune, McGraw-Hill's international energy publications, the Reader's Digest and others. He has revealed major national scandals in the fields of government, politics, the environment, the utility industry and the legal system. He grew up in the direct response marketing business before starting his journalism career writing for The Des Moines Register & Tribune and United Press International while still in college. He also has spent almost two decades handling public information and crisis communications duties for various public safety agencies in Oklahoma.

After earning a BFA in graphic design, Faith Wylie began her career at Old American Insurance Co., where she learned direct marketing from Martin Baier and Bob Stone (Stone&Adler). She did the illustrations for Baier's direct marketing textbook. A piece she designed broke the response record at Old American. She has served as co-publisher of the Oologah Lake Leader since 1984, and has handled design and marketing for a wide variety of outside clients. She has designed successful non-profit fundraising campaigns.
